Kick off your new year with some great reads!

To help all of you kick off the new year right, I thought I would introduce some of my favorite authors so you can enjoy them too! Download their books and get started today! You won't be disappointed!

What is the title of your book?
I currently have two in the series: “Ruby Blue” and “Deja Blue.” Book three, “Sky Blue” is going to hit the shelves in January 2013. Book 4 is scheduled to be released Spring 2013.

How did you come by the idea?
I actually had the idea for years before I wrote it. I began thinking of Ruby’s story about 7 years ago, while I worked in my garden. I always thought it would be a great children’s book, but as I thought about the characters and the kind of adventure I wanted them to embark on, I realized it was a more mature story.

What genre does your book fall under?
Young Adult/Teen Fantasy

Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?
Ahhh! I have no idea! The only one that’s crystal clear in my head is Matt Dallas for Brennan. For Ruby, I do like Jennifer Lawrence or Alexis Bledel (if she dyed her hair). But if Ruby’s story ever made it to the big screen, whoever played her definitely has to have a sweet innocence about her.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
An age-old myth, a rare astrological occurrence, enchanted gardens, magic spells and first love…see what legends come to life in the Ruby Blue Series.

Will your book be self-published or traditional?
Indie all the way!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Two weeks. That answer shocks a lot of people, but I had the story in my head for so long (7 years) that it practically wrote itself once I actually sat down and started to write.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
The House of Night Series (P.C. Cast/Kristen Cast); Carter Finally Gets it (Brent Crawford); The Twilight Saga (Stephanie Meyer); Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling). Though, my books are lighter, like Brent Crawford’s work.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you are looking for an entertaining, light-hearted, fast-paced read with a bit of mystery and a bit of romance mixed with fantasy elements, then this is the book for you, no matter your age or gender. I’ve actually had more adults read it, than tweens/teens. It’s a great crossover that parents and grandparents can enjoy and share with their kids and grandkids.
(AUTHOR’S NOTE: PG-13 Material)

AUTHOR AJ LAPE – The Darcy Walker Series
GENRE: Young Adult Fiction/Teen Mystery

What is the title of your book? My next big thing is "No Brainer,” the second installment in the Darcy Walker Series and follow up to “Grade A Stupid.”  It will be released in the spring of 2013.  At least that’s the plan unless a solar flare incinerates me between now and then.

How did you come by the idea?
Honest to God, I was eating a bag of Doritos…I get very creative when I eat Doritos.  Book one was written and I needed a title for book two…came to me in one munch…along with about 150 calories of saturated fats.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
…If you thought Darcy stirs up trouble in “Grade A Stupid,” “No Brainer” is going to have you popping antacids and throwing your books, kindles, and NOOKS up against the wall.  Don’t send me the bill…please.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
“No Brainer” was written in less than six months, compliments of 180 cans of Coke.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I hope I give readers the fun of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum Series while giving them a little bit of Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games and James Patterson as a side dish.  I want readers to feel every emotion possible when reading my books.  So, if someone laughs, cries, hides, or wants to become a card-carrying member of the NRA then I’ve done my job.

Hi, my name is Amanda Hunter, I am a stay at home Mom from Central Ohio.  My love for writing came from a very vivid imagination that I have had most of my life.
I try to write about funny, real-life situations with a twist to them.  Most will have you laughing, maybe crying, but mostly, they will have you saying "Wow, this is so me!" I recently have delved into the paranormal genre a bit with my book "Sedona's Spirit".
